The Arkle. Wool jacket in our own Tech Wool, sits well over a flannel or a jumper. Built for the coast path, the garden, the walk to the station. A jacket that doesn't try hard, it works hard.
The cut sits between a jacket and an overshirt: smart over a shirt, easy over a jumper. A contrast brushed cotton inner neck and zip guard means nothing sits cold against the skin. Wool holds its shape, so it travels well and comes off the plane looking like you meant it.

Fabric
Main: 60% wool, 32% polyester, 3% acrylic, 3% polyamide, 2% viscose. Lining: 100% cotton. Wool for warmth and character, synthetics blended in for strength and to cut weight.

If you wish to return an item, please follow the guidelines below.
- Login to your account using the top right icon in the header of this website.
- Enter automated code to log in.
- Fill in relevant information, including reasons for return and request a return.
- If the return request is approved, you will be sent a Royal Mail tracked returns link to the email used for the order.
- Click the Royal Mail tracked returns link in your inbox and follow the steps on the portal.
Please note our full returns policy can be found in our terms and conditions section in the footer. Our main points are as follows:
- You have 30 days from delivery to return or exchange the items, if you are not within this window, you will be unable to return the items.
- We do not accept returns on headwear for hygiene reasons.
- Your item must be as you received it and if there are any missing tags, we may not be able to process the return.
- You must ensure the package is secure before sending the items back.
- Exchanges are free: swapping a size costs you nothing. Send the item in the wrong size back and re-purchase the correct size item.
- Once you have have requested a return and it has been approved within the 30 day return window, you must return the item(s) within 5 working days. If you don't return the items within this window, we will assume you have decided to keep the items and cancel the return.
- We do not refund the shipping cost on refunds, you will receive a refund for the value of the items that have been returned only.

I’ve been incredibly impressed with the Ghillie Arkel Wool Jacket. From the moment I took it out of the box, it was obvious that this is a garment that’s been designed with real care and attention to detail. The craftsmanship is outstanding, with beautifully finished stitching, thoughtful features and a timeless design that feels built to last.
The fit is absolutely spot on. I ordered my usual size and it fits perfectly, true to size with just enough room to layer underneath without feeling bulky. It’s one of those rare jackets that looks equally at home in the countryside or around town.
The wool fabric is superb. It’s warm, comfortable and breathable, making it ideal for cooler days without ever feeling heavy or restrictive. With the recent weather being so warm I’ve not worn it for extended periods, but it’s clear that comfort has been just as much a priority as style.
What really stands out is how well considered every aspect of the jacket is. Ghillie’s philosophy of combining traditional British fieldwear with modern versatility really comes through. It feels practical, durable and refined all at the same time and I suspect exactly the sort of jacket I’ll reach for year after year.
If you’re looking for a premium wool jacket that’s beautifully made, fits perfectly and offers genuine warmth and comfort, I couldn’t recommend the Arkel highly enough. It’s one of those purchases that exceeds expectations and reminds you what quality clothing should feel like.
