Clothing built for the outdoors should do more than look the part. At Ghillie, every piece is designed with purpose — from the weave of a shirt to the insulation of a jacket — and made using materials chosen for reliability and comfort, not trends.
This guide walks through the core fabrics used across our range and how to care for them properly, ensuring your Ghillie kit remains dependable year after year.

The Brae Flannel Shirt
Double-brushed finish for signature warmth while remaining breathable enough for all-day wear. Flannel has been a countryside staple for generations — warm, traditional, and durable.
- Wash at 30°C or cooler with similar colours
- Do not tumble dry — hang or lay flat
- Iron on medium heat if needed
- Avoid bleach or harsh detergents
Brush off mud and debris before washing. Airing the shirt between wears can reduce how often you need to wash it, preserving the cotton fibres for longer.
The Torr Wool Gilet
The Torr uses a bespoke Tech Wool — a 60% wool blend engineered for durability and longevity. Wool's natural antibacterial properties mean it doesn't need frequent washing. Air it between wears to refresh it naturally.
- Hand wash cool or delicate machine wash at 30°C
- Use a specialist wool detergent
- Lay flat to dry — never tumble dry
- Store in a breathable bag
Wool is naturally antibacterial and odour-resistant — it doesn't need washing after every wear. Air it outdoors to refresh it and extend the time between washes.

The Kinloch Fleece
Made from recycled fibres, the Kinloch's brushed construction traps warmth efficiently without weight.
- Wash at 30°C (gentle cycle)
- Avoid fabric softeners — they reduce breathability
- Air dry — dries quickly
- Do not tumble dry
The Corrie Down Jacket
Natural goose down for warmth-to-weight ratio, a matte water-repellent shell, and a moisture-wicking cotton lining.
- Air frequently to maintain loft
- Use a specialist down detergent — cold gentle wash
- Tumble dry on low with clean tennis balls to restore loft
- Store uncompressed in a breathable bag
A well-made down jacket can last many winters with the right care. Air it regularly and never store it compressed.

General Principles
Small Habits, Long Life
Wash Less, Air More
Airing garments between wears reduces washing frequency and preserves fibres — particularly for wool and down.
Mild Detergents
Harsh products weaken cotton and wool fibres. Use gentle, specialist detergents designed for natural fabrics.
Avoid Over-Drying
Heat breaks down natural fabrics. Air drying extends garment life significantly for all Ghillie pieces.
Store Properly
Breathable storage bags for wool and down. Hanging for shirts. Avoiding compression preserves shape and performance.
